Reminds me I need to get Yi Yi for my film collection. It was the only film of his I've seen, and I remember it was one of the best films I had seen in a year of great cinema. (I saw Croupier and After Life on the same weekend)

Oh yeah, 1999-2000 was a golden age! I still haven't seen "Croupier."

Yang's "A Brighter Summer Day" is also really good but hard to find. (A friend let me borrow the laser disc back then.)

I have bought the Fox Lorber DVD for Yi Yi twice(!), but it's a really crappy transfer; it looks like VHS (the trailer is somehow better quality than the movie itself). So, make sure to get the new Criterion Collection version--I've got my eye on it as well.

I am super bummed that there will never be a new Edward Yang movie again.
